 Boyd Bingham IV Cancer Watch

Most of you know that our Pastor's son, Boyd IV, has a malignant tumor on his spine, and has been undergoing intense chemotherapy for the last several months.  We appreciate your prayers and concern, and want to keep you updated here.

Boyd was in surgery for 5 hours on February 26, 2010, at Vanderbilt.  The surgery went well, and the tumor was removed.  He is is now up and walking, and his continued progress has confounded the doctors.  Obviously, the prayers of many have been answered.

Boyd is home now, and is able to get out some.  He is in a lot of pain, but has a very upbeat attitude.  Another round of chemotherapy is scheduled to start very soon.

3/25/2010  Boyd's blood levels and chemistry reached dangerous levels today, and he had to be flown to Knoxville for emergency treatment.  It was very touch and go for a few days.

3/30/2010  Boyd is still in the hospital, but has shown significant improvement.

3/31/2010  Released to home today, and steadily improving.

4/7/2010    Boyd's recovery has been slow, and an infection has set up around the surgical site.

4/10/2010  Surgery to remove the infection was successful, but the last couple of days have been very difficult for him.  Please continue to keep Boyd, his wife Mandy, William, Joan, Keeper and the rest of the family in your prayers.  This has been draining for all of them.

4/14/2010  The remaining infection is proving stubborn to eradicate. Progress is still very slow, but steady, and kidney function is improving.

4/18/2010  It appears that dialysis will not be necessary now.  Boyd was able to speak a few words to the Sunday church service via the telephone, but is still very weak.

4/22/2010  After 2-1/2 weeks at Vanderbilt, Boyd finally made it home at mid-week and is doing much better now.  The infection is now under control, and Boyd is getting his strength back slowly.

5/1/2010  Boyds' kidney function is finally back to normal, but now his vitamin D level is near zero, and he is taking massive supplements.

5/5/2010  It was good to have Boyd back in church for the first time on Sunday morning, and again on Wednesday night. His strength continues to improve a little bit each day.

6/18/2010  This will be the last update for awhile, and Boyd is doing very well.  His blood counts are approaching normal, his color is good, his hair is coming back, and he is getting some sense of normalcy back in his life.  Although he is not fully recovered, we are thankful to the Lord for how He has worked in everything.  We covet your prayers, and know they have been effective. Thank you in advance.

There is no better time than now to invite someone to church. What better gift could you give? Now, who did God just lay on your heart.
